Requirements:
Bachelors degree required
Certified IRB Professional certification required within one year of hire
Five years experience in IRB management
Self-motivated with ability to work independently without assistance
Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and professional demeanor
Demonstrated ability to envision and articulate future direction
Experience in training of research constituents
Extensive and accurate skills and knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to research, FDA, DHHS, ICH GCP, HIPAA, ability to apply AAHRPP guidelines, including but not limited to 45CFR46, 45CFR164, 21CFR50, and 21CFR56, state and local laws.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to independently prioritize, organize, and efficiently deal with multiple ongoing activities
Demonstrated experience in development of educational programs, public speaking, and/or training
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Responsibilities:
Continually research, design, review, develop, update, correct, oversee and manage systems, policies and procedures as needed to assure compliance with applicable federal regulations, institutional policy and the hospital's Federal Wide Assurance.
Develop Human Research Protections Program at CDH with the goal of achieving accreditation from AAHRPP within 2 years of initial planning.
Function as liaison between IRB Chair and committee members, government and institutional officials, hospital legal counsel, investigators, the CDH research community and research subjects.
Serve as the primary topic-specific expert to the CDH research community for issues related to IRB review of research involving human subjects.
Responsible for identification of new and revised government regulations regarding conduct of human subjects research and for disseminating this information to the Office of Research Support, IRB members, investigators, coordinators, the CDH research community and other officials.
Responsible for proper identification of risk and potential areas of non-compliance.
Evaluate training needs and develop training strategies, programs, and procedures.
Maintain currency in the field through continuing education activities, national committee membership, literature, and seminars. Maintain contacts with peers, monitor ongoing national discussions regarding regulatory and ethical issues. Implement knowledge gained to all constituents.
Improve organizational performance through establishing new procedures and improved activities.
Represent the IRB office in relevant forums in the CDH system.
