Metropolitan Jewish Health System (MJHS) provides a continuum of care to more than 30,000 persons in the Greater New York metropolitan area. This organization, is over a century old, is a leading provider of post-acute and long-term care with an extensive network of home care, rehabilitation, long term care, hospice, adult day health care, and outreach/community services.
MJHS also operates a Medicare HMO and a Medicaid managed care company. MJHS has grown to become a recognized health care leader offering patients and families a comprehensive system of care. Because of this unique structure, they can provide a wide variety of integrated services to meet a client's changing health needs, either over a course of treatment or throughout a lifetime.
THE ROLE:
The incumbent will report to the CEO and be responsible for running the managerial and administrative functions of the Research Department as well as planning, and implementing all research related activities at MJHS. These include identifying topics and opportunities for research based quality improvement efforts throughout the organization; identifying funding opportunities and applying for grants; overseeing IRB process; staffing the department; communicating with the Executive Council and Board of Directors; helping other departments with grants and research related activities; and representing MJHS on related Boards and at professional meetings. This Vice President of Research will directly supervise a Senior Project Manager for Palliative Care Initiatives, Project Manager, Data Analyst and indirectly supervise a Quality of Life Program Staff.
The Ideal Candidate
The Vice President of Research should bring a mix of experience, talent, style and values that will enable them to succeed in a complex, diverse, environment and assist in maintaining its status as a leading healthcare provider. An ideal candidate will also bring the following professional experience and personal qualities to this important role:
. A minimum of five years experience in health and health services research, with an emphasis on home care, long-term and end of life care.
. Doctoral degree in Health Services Research or related field
. Excellent computer skills including proficientcy in SPSS, Word, Excel
. Experience in staff and administrative management needed.
. Excellent critical thinking and analytical ability.
. Creative thinker with good research skills
. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
