The Carilion Clinic, formerly known as Carilion Health System, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare delivery system headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking an IRB Regulatory Affairs Administrator. The administrator reports to the Director of Biomedical and Research Ethics and is responsible for the implementation of a regulatory audit program of research protocols to assure compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines governing the conduct of research involving human subjects.
The administrator also provides expertise in and administers IRB review of human subjects protocols in social and behavioral sciences, manages the review of all exempt and expedited protocols, and leads assessment of quality assurance and quality improvement studies to determine if they qualify as human subjects’ research. The administrator interacts with principal investigators, clinical research professionals and other research staff to provide guidance on Good Clinical Practices governing human subjects’ research. Experience in clinical/health care environment required. Certified Clinical Research Coordinator or Certified Clinical Research Professional required.
Carilion is embarking on an initiative to transform from a traditional healthcare system into a full clinic model similar to other non-university academic centers. Carilion is expanding its commitment to research with the establishment of a research institute in collaboration with Virginia Tech.
