Institutional Review Board (IRB) Manager
Spectrum Health
Grand Rapids, MI

Schedule: Full time, primary business hours, Monday through Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Consults with management and internal resources to implement organizational research compliance development, implementation and management. Manages operational effectiveness and efficiency of research department administrative staff to assure compliance to federal, state and local regulations and related Spectrum Health policies. Partners with managers, supervisors and team leaders to assess and diagnose organization, departmental or individual performance needs as it relates to individual, team and leadership development. Identifies/recommends appropriate initiatives, intervention or programs. Manages planning, implementation/delivery, integration and evaluation of strategic research initiatives.
* Assumes day-to-day accountability for the delivery of quality research and adherence to regulatory compliance by directing the research administrative team.
* Manages the activities of professional research staff associates in regulatory and compliance areas. Facilitates the training and continuing education of research administrative staff. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, assures training, and evaluate subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
* Further development, organization and implementation of an expanded regulatory compliance program to compliment existing regulatory structure.
* Researches best practices as it relates to research federal regulations and research compliance. Creation, maintenance of standardized research processes and adoption of common best practices / good clinical practice across system and collaborating entities in conjunction with Research Director.
* Develops, implements and evaluates educational/training strategies, including such methodologies as coaching, facilitation, developmental experience and mentoring. Evaluation/expansion of regulatory education program in conjunction with education supervisor to include utilization of resources available throughout research network and make available for all research personnel.
* Anticipates customer needs and manages the provision of services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff. Ensures that staff responds to requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.
* Research, assess and analyze employee/organizational structure, needs, processes, utilizing available information and soliciting additional information through interviews and consultation with management/business analysts, etc. as it relates to research initiatives.
* Communicates, collaborates and networks with managers, executives, analysts, members of the team and others to facilitate continuity and coordination of research services.


REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Science or equivalent education and experience
* Five years of related experience with a focus in education, management, process improvement and/or clinical experience in regulatory compliance
* Certification in research healthcare human subject protections preferred (CHC/CHRC/CIP)
* Research regulations experience preferred
