Assistant Director of Accreditation

SUMMARY

The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs seeks nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Director of Accreditation. The Assistant Director of Accreditation is responsible for overseeing the accreditation process for individual organizations. The incumbent reviews applications, supports site visit teams, writes and reviews reports, and provides support to the Council on Accreditation. Providing technical assistance to applicant organizations is also a responsibility of the position. The Assistant Director of Accreditation reports to the Chief Operating Officer.


RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review initial and renewal applications, requests for full accreditation, and improvement plans.

2. Prepare site visit agendas and work with organizations to resolve scheduling conflicts.

3. Prepare starter reports, draft reports, and final reports.

4. Assist organizations in preparing applications, responses, improvement plans, and requests for full accreditation.

5. Consult with clients as needed and participate in AAHRPP’s educational activities.

6. Provide input into policies and procedures for AAHRPP.

7. Support the Council on Accreditation in all aspects of planning, conducting, and reviewing applications.



Qualifications:

The incumbent will possess the requisite programmatic and management skills and experience to develop and lead the accreditation program. This includes excellent organizational skills as well as outstanding writing and verbal communication skills. Applicants must have knowledge of and experience with the foundations of research ethics, organization and operation of programs for protecting human research participants, and applicable laws, regulations governing the protection of research participants, and policies. College degree is required. Master’s or doctoral degree is preferred. At least three years experience in conducting research, research compliance, or IRB management is required.
