Job Title: Staff Assistant

Location: UMDNJ, Newark Campus, Newark, NJ


Responsibilites:Under the direction and supervision of the Program Assistant, Assistant Director, or IRB Director, responsible for the administration of IRB board meeting(s). Assists other office staff as necessary. Drafts correspondence that conveys IRB deliberations. Provides assistance with development of written guidelines to improve communication and understanding of human research requirements. Serves as a liaison and provides education to departments as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of professional level experience. Exceptional written and oral communications skills required. Computer skills including: data entry and word processing. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the IRB process. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements. This job requires a person who can learn the IRB program function, is skilled in interpersonal relationships and in oral and written communication, and who is able to deal with high volumes and rigid deadlines. Familiarity with research ethics and methods and the ability to conduct independent literature research are required. Solid PC skills including thorough knowledge of MS Office functions is essential and attention to detail is required.
