Community Based Research Program Manager
(Program Associate II grade 10)
Office of the Vice President for Research, Human Subjects Office
Salary range $44,037 to commensurate

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Human Subjects Office seeks a highly motivated professional to provide leadership and oversight in the design, planning, promotion, and conduct of in-depth, on-site reviews of selected human subjects research projects conducted by University of Iowa investigators and their Community Partners for the purpose of assessing compliance with federal regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, and University of Iowa policies and procedures for the conduct of research involving human subjects. The successful candidate will develop, administer, and oversee a comprehensive educational program for students, faculty, and staff and their community partners involved in community based research.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a field of behavioral/social science, public health science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Considerable (3-5 years) program coordination, administrative, and/or supervisory experience.
• Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in public speaking, technical writing and or teaching.
• Experience conducting and/or monitoring human subjects research with a
demonstrated knowledge of biomedical, epidemiologic, or social science/behavioral research design and conduct.
• Experience working with community or non- profit organization(s).
• Knowledge of federal regulations regarding the protection of human subjects participating in research.
• Evidence of strong writing, public speaking, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact in a professional manner with clients on a broad range of sensitive topics.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, relational databases, and the internet.
• Ability to travel to on-site visits with Community Partners, including in-state travel with some overnight stays.
• Maintain eligibility to operate UI vehicle through Fleet Safety requirements.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in a field of behavioral/social science, public health science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in coordinating a research program of high complexity, involving multiple investigators, sites, or projects.
• Experience preparing & submitting IRB application materials and supporting documents, using an electronic application submission system such as HawkIRB.
• Knowledge of University regulations regarding the protection of human subjects participating in research.
• Training or teaching experience.
• Certification as a Certified IRB Professional (CIP).
