Grants and IRB Administrator

Founded in 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is a private, independent institution with academic programs and research activities spanning the full spectrum of pharmacy, health sciences and arts and sciences. ACPHS students pursue a wide range of career pathways in health related fields through degree programs in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical technology, and health and human sciences. More than 1,600 students are enrolled at the College’s main campus located in the heart of the Capital District in Albany, New York, and 140 students are currently enrolled at a new satellite campus in Colchester, Vermont.


Position

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Research, the Grant and IRB Administrator is primarily responsible for the coordination of all pre-award activities related to grant applications made on behalf of the College, all Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities, intramural funds and student research awards. The Administrator will assist applicants with the development, preparation, and submission of grant applications; review all applications for extramural funding to ensure compliance with College policy and sponsor/agency requirements; administer all intramural funding and internal awards offered through the Office of Grants Administration (OGA); research/issue funding opportunities; and assist in the development and maintenance of OGA and IRB policies and procedures. The Administrator will also provide formal ongoing education, trainings, and training materials to College employees on OGA grant application procedures; and ensure that all IRB members complete the required human subject research protections certification. The Administrator will maintain inventory of all grant submissions and protocols received/reviewed by the IRB and prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports as requested.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in related field preferred. Minimum of three years experience with federal or state pre-awards is required. Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet multiple, co-occurring internal and external deadlines is necessary. Candidates must have the ability to develop and conduct formal trainings and seminars, work with considerable autonomy, and function collaboratively across the College and with external constituents. Knowledge of federal regulations governing research involving human subjects and/or demonstrated experience with institutional review board activities is also required.
