Position: Director, Human Research Protection Program

Yale University's Office of Research Administration is beginning its search for a Director, Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). Yale University is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the protection of human research participants. In FY10, Yale had nearly $627 million in sponsored research expenditures, over 700 full board reviews (including clinical trial protocols), and nearly 2000 expedited reviews. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Research Administration, and managing 18 staff, the Director is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of Yale's comprehensive HRPP, promoting a culture of respect for human research participants and doing so in compliance with relevant federal regulations, state laws, sponsor requirements and University policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Advanced degree in an appropriate scientific, legal or business discipline (e.g., Masters of Science in Nursing, Doctorate in Pharmacy, M.S. or Ph.D., JD, or Masters of Business Administration), a minimum of seven years of experience in IRB-related activities with five years in a supervisory capacity. Prior experience in an IRB administration is essential, preferably in a university or academic health center setting. Proven leadership, management, process re-engineering skills, and strong problem-solving skills are a must.
