Assistant Director, Research Compliance

General Summary:
The Assistant Director, Research Compliance will report to the Director of Research Protections. The Assistant Director's primary responsibilities are to assist with the day to day operations of the human subject protection program at DePaul and to assist with the operations of the Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). DePaul University has multiple campuses with a wide range of disciplines, however, human subject research at DePaul is primarily focused on Social and Behavioral disciplines. The Assistant Director will aid in ensuring that DePaul remains compliant with institutional policy and federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and ethical principles pertaining to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), IACUC, and IBC.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work independently on duties related to the IRB review process; coordinate IRB submissions, facilitate the review process, conduct reviews, and correspond with investigators.
· Implement an on-line information system and electronic submission system.
· Write new policies, procedures and revisions to forms.
· Conduct investigator and IRB education sessions.
· Establish quality assurance and improvement process.
· Assist with IACUC and IBC administrative duties, as needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree.
· Minimum of 3 years experience in IRB administration.
· Experience with or knowledge of IACUC and IBC administration.
· Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the federal regulations and guidance pertaining to the IRB, IACUC, and IBC.
· Strong organizational, communication and writing skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as manage multiple priorities within the given deadlines.
Preferred Requirements:
· Master's or other advanced degree.
· Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or eligibility for CIP.
· Knowledge of electronic submission systems.
· Experience and/or knowledge regarding implementation of a quality improvement and assurance or compliance process.
