Administrative Director, Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Director, Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is a facility of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) located on the grounds of Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY, fifteen miles north of New York City. NKI is affiliated with the New York University Langone School of Medicine (NYULSOM), located in midtown Manhattan. The Institute's mission is to develop better methods to prevent and treat serious and persistent mental illness through biological, epidemiological, clinical and services research. The Institute is committed to carrying out its research in an ethical manner that promotes and protects the rights and welfare of persons who volunteer to participate in our research activities. Sponsored programs are administered through the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH), a non-profit foundation affiliated with OMH.

SALARY/GRADE:
SG - 31 / $100,510 - $122,354
Downstate Differential $3,026

Non-Competitive Position

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in human subject's protections and research ethics related to the conduct or oversight of clinical research, IRB experience preferred. CIP preferred.

Master's degree required, advanced degree a plus.

DUTIES: The Administrative Director (AD) reports to the IRB Chairman and Works in close liaison with Institutional leadership, the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH), New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), and with the New York University Langone School of Medicine (NYULSOM) on all matters related to human subjects research. The AD will develop, refine and implement policies and procedures for the conduct of human subjects research that are in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements. Incumbent will manage the IRB staff and office, provide regulatory guidance to the IRB Chair, members, investigators and Institute leadership, be responsible for the development and coordination of education and training materials that promote the highest standards for the conduct of human subjects research, and oversee the electronic protocol submission and management system. In addition, the incumbent will provide regulatory and administrative support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Institutional Conflict of Interest Committee (ICIC), and the Research Integrity Committee.
