Animal Care Facility is seeking a full time "Research Protection Programs Manager"

The Research Protection Programs Manager (RPPM) in the Institute for Health Sciences at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital is responsible for the management of research protection and program development to ensure research compliance with federal regulations, state law, contemporary guidance and hospital policy.

Acting as the point of contact for the research community, the RPPM provides information regarding regulatory protection of the welfare of human subjects, animal care and use, responsible conduct of research and cost policy. The RPPM is responsible for developing a culture of research protection through policy and procedures, training, education, risk assessments, audits and other monitoring processes.

Develop, maintain and revise polices and procedures related to the responsible conduct of research, enhancement of IRB operations and standard operating procedures for administrative functions.

Identify and coordinate the translation of revised and new government regulations and guidance into compliant policy and procedures: integrate in training program.

Develop and conduct educational workshops and training programs regarding policies and procedures, regulations and investigator responsibilities. Training program to include new investigator orientation, educational activities for Committee membership to stay abreast of current events and focused training based on findings from risk assessments and audits.

Develop and maintain systems for tracking and reporting of research protection activities. Perform data collection and review of findings.

Conduct research protection risk assessments / audits including but not limited to: investigator conflict of interest; IRB proper use of expedited and exempt categories; IRB timeliness of staff response and continuing review; IRB completeness of meeting minutes; determine if protocols are implemented as approved.

Identify and develop corrective action plans to address instances of deficiency in research protection.

Provide quarterly reports of research protection activities.

Assist in the preparation of required reports, notices and other documents related to regulatory compliance.
Bachelor's degree relevant to research protection / compliance and five years progressively responsible experience with regulatory compliance issues related to research or Master's degree and three years progressively responsible experience with regulatory compliance issues related to research.


Requirements
Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and guidance related to research compliance required. The ability to translate ever changing regulations into operational policies and procedures is essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) including public speaking Demonstrated ability to develop and implement compliance training / educational programs.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Project management skills are highly desirable
