Responsibilities:
The IRB Operations Manager will manage day to day operations of the IRB staff team to ensure that IRB staff provides the best possible support to IRB committees and excellent service to FHCRC and Cancer Consortium investigators.

Major Duties:
• Consistent, timely, thorough preparation of IRB materials:
o Check in with staff and monitor workload and redistribute as needed
o Monitor tickler list and review IRB agendas, result letters, minutes
o Conduct regular meetings with Analysts to address issues of policy, procedures and consistency.

• Well developed, high trust, high performance work team:
o Perform hiring/terminations of IRB staff, oversee training of new staff
o Conduct regular supervisory meetings with individual staff members and provide feedback to staff as well as solicit feedback
o Model positive, direct communication and conflict resolution and address personnel issues
o Support staff in defining and moving toward career goals/growth

• Quality customer service and consultancy to all constituents:
o Establish clear customer/consultancy expectations
o Solicit feedback from constituents and provide guidance to staff in complex cases
o Assist staff in resolving complaints

• Collaborative management of IRO w/Policy Manager and Assistant Director:
o Meet regularly w/Policy Manager and Assistant Director
o Collaboratively manage work flow between all parts of IRO
o Inform IRB team members of changes in policy/procedures
o Co-lead IRO staff meetings with Policy Manager/Assistant Director
o Serve as back-up to Policy Manager

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (advance degree preferred). A minimum of 3 – 5 years progressively responsible experience in human subjects administration. A detailed knowledge and understanding of the implementation of a complex regulatory system is required. Familiarity with federal regulations preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years experience in IRB personnel management, and three years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral) are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with academic researchers and others. Certified IRB Professional (CIP), familiarity with AAHRPP accreditation standards and IRB experience in oncology and vaccine trails review strongly preferred. Willingness to travel, work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary DOE+ excellent benefits; 100% full-time position.
