Preparing for the CIP Examination
The Biomedical Research Alliance of New York (BRANY) offers research administration and central IRB services to sponsors and institutions and is accredited by the Partnership for Human Research Protection (PHRP). The BRANY Institute for Research Education is independently offering a 1 ½ day course to assist those in the IRB field who are interested in preparing for the CIP exam or simply seeking training and education in topics included in the content outline provided by CCIP. Completion of this course does not automatically qualify participants to take the exam – all eligibility requirements must be met). For information on the exam, eligibility requirements, and an application go to http://www.ptcny.com/clients/CCIP/ .
In addition to learning the following topics, class participants will receive study materials and a resource list that will further assist in their preparation for the exam.
Foundations and concepts of IRB practice (Historical background, research ethics, research design issues, regulatory application, etc.).
Organizational and personnel knowledge (IRB committee organization, institutional considerations)
IRB Functions and Operations (Types of IRB review, informed consent, subject recruitment, vulnerable populations)
Records and Reports (IRB policies and procedures, assurances, recordkeeping, etc.)
If you have questions about the course or would like to register go to www.brany.com/education.php or contact Michelle Gong at (516) 470-6933.
